Use of proceeds — annual allocation and impact reporting.

Green bond and green loan issuers must publish annual use-of-proceeds reports until full allocation — covering both allocation (how much capital was deployed to eligible categories) and impact (the environmental outcomes of the financed projects). Othello prepares the bilingual annual report.

Allocation

How allocation reporting works

Allocation reporting discloses how green bond / loan proceeds were deployed across eligible categories. The format includes: total amount allocated, amount per eligible category, share of allocation to refinancing vs new projects, and the unallocated balance held in segregated accounts.

Impact

Quantifying environmental outcomes

Impact reporting addresses the environmental outcomes of the financed projects. For renewable energy: installed capacity, generation in MWh, avoided GHG emissions. For energy efficiency: energy saved, GHG emissions avoided. For clean transportation: passenger-kilometers shifted to lower-carbon modes, emissions avoided.

The ICMA Harmonized Framework for Impact Reporting provides standardized impact metrics by eligible category.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

What is use-of-proceeds reporting for green and sustainability bonds?
Use-of-proceeds reporting is the disclosure that tells investors how the money raised by a green, social, or sustainability bond has been allocated and what environmental or social impact it achieved. It is typically produced each year until the proceeds are fully allocated. Othello helps Thai issuers prepare this allocation and impact reporting in English and Thai.
What should annual allocation and impact reporting include?
These reports generally set out how much of the proceeds has been allocated to which eligible projects and describe the resulting impact using relevant indicators, so investors can see that funds were used as promised. Clarity and consistency with the original bond framework are essential. Othello structures and translates this reporting so it is credible to international investors.
Why does use-of-proceeds reporting matter to investors?
Investors in labeled bonds rely on use-of-proceeds reporting to confirm that their capital funded the intended sustainable activities and to guard against greenwashing concerns. Weak or inconsistent reporting can undermine confidence and future issuance. Othello helps issuers produce transparent, well-documented reporting that supports investor trust.
