Methodology. Othello International compilation of public SET & mai disclosure data, 12 Jul 2026. Signals are binary presence flags — ESG rating (holds a domestic AAA–BBB band), GHG (discloses greenhouse-gas data), SEC ESG (ESG section found in the SEC filing) — summed to 0–3. This measures disclosure presence, not quality, completeness or English readability, which require reading the document. Not an official SET/SEC/rating-agency product; confirm any company’s current status against primary sources. Free to cite with attribution to Othello International.
About the benchmark.
01What does the Thai ESG Disclosure Benchmark measure?+
It measures disclosure presence, not disclosure quality. For each of 931 SET and mai listed companies it records three real, public signals as of 12 Jul 2026: whether the company holds an ESG rating, whether it discloses greenhouse-gas (GHG) data, and whether it has an ESG section in its SEC filing. Each company gets a simple 0–3 signal count so you can see, and filter, who discloses what by sector. It does not grade how good the disclosure is or whether it reads well in English — that requires reading the actual document.
02Where does the data come from?+
The benchmark is Othello International’s own compilation of public SET and mai disclosure data as of 12 Jul 2026. It is not an official SET, SEC or rating-agency product. Ratings reflect the domestic ESG rating bands (AAA–BBB) recorded in our dataset; GHG and SEC-filing flags reflect whether that disclosure was found. Always confirm a specific company’s current status against primary sources.
03My company shows fewer signals than we expected — why?+
The benchmark reflects what is publicly disclosed and machine-findable, not the work you have done internally. A common cause is exactly the gap Othello exists to close: the ESG work sits in the Thai filing but is not surfaced as complete, English, framework-legible public disclosure a rater or crawler can see. If your signals look low, that is usually a disclosure-visibility problem, not a performance one.
04How is this different from an ESG rating?+
An ESG rating (from FTSE Russell, MSCI, Sustainalytics or the domestic SET/Thaipat schemes) is a judged score of performance and risk management. This benchmark is upstream of that: it simply maps whether the disclosure that ratings depend on exists at all. A company can hold a rating and still have gaps in GHG or SEC-filing disclosure — and an unrated company may already disclose more than its rated peers.
Low signals? It’s usually visibility, not performance.
Most disclosure gaps are work that never became complete, English, framework-legible public disclosure. That is exactly what we build — so a rater, an investor and this benchmark can all see it.
