Verification follows monitoring data collection, normally on a periodic cycle defined in the project’s crediting period. The VVB Lead Assessor evaluates the Monitoring Report, replaces the ex-ante estimates with ex-post MRV (monitoring, reporting, verification) data, samples evidence to confirm the reported reductions, and issues the Verification Report, Verification Representation, and Verification Statement. Site visit & substantive testing.Where the methodology requires (forestry, REDD+, on-the-ground projects), a physical site visit verifies project boundaries, monitoring equipment, sample plots, and stakeholder engagement evidence. For desk-based engagements, document inspection, source-system tracing, and recomputation substitute. The Lead Assessor signs every site-visit field note.
STAGE 04
Findings, CARs, and Project-Proponent response.Findings are logged as Corrective Action Requests (CARs), Forward Action Requests (FARs), or New Information Requests (NIRs) per Verra terminology.
